Selecting Your Builder
Choosing the right builder is the most important decision you will make to ensure your building or remodeling experience is enjoyable, rewarding and as stress-free as possible.
Honesty, integrity, experience, craftsmanship and customer service should be some of the attributes you expect from your builder. Do not be afraid to ask the important questions that will guide you in choosing a builder who will meet and exceed your every expectation.

Tips for Selecting a Builder
How long have you been in business? Design South Homes, Inc. was established in October 2003.
Look for a company with an established business and performance history. You want a company that has been around for a while and will continue to be around to warranty their work.
Are you licensed and insured to do business? Design South Homes is a fully insured Florida Licensed Building Contractor.
Ask for the contractor's license number and check with the Florida Department of Professional Regulation and local Builder's Associations to research any complaints that my be recorded. Make sure the contractor carries liability insurance and requires all sub-contractors to provide proper worker's compensation insurance coverage.
Are you located at a commercial location? Please visit the Design South Homes' Showroom in downtown Mount Dora, FL.
Visit the contractor's office! It will tell you a lot about the company, management style and operation.
Do you offer design services? Design South Homes offers design services for all new construction and renovation projects.
Whether you are building a new home or remodeling an existing one, it is inevitable during any stage of the project that you will need design assistance. Your contractor should offer space planning, architectural services and interior product selections.
Are your on-site employees certified? Design South Homes' provides OSHA certified training for all staff members.
The contractor's employees should be OSHA certified to ensure your project follows all safety and environmental rules.
May I have a list of references? Please contact Design South Homes for a list of business and Customer references.
The contractor should be able to provide you with a number of references including names, addresses, and phone numbers. You should be able to inquire from past Customers with completed projects similar to your own, so that you can confirm the quality of craftsmanship and attention to detail.
What percentage of your business is referrals? Design South Homes' new projects since 2008 have a 89% referral rate.
This will give you a good idea of the level of customer satisfaction and quality of work. A good remodeling business will attribute at least half of their sales volume to customer referrals.
